The beauty of Mexico

My father is currently in central Mexico and he has been emailing me. As we talk about the ugliness of immigration debates and the violence of drug cartels in class and read about it in the news, his last email seemed a breath of fresh air. With his permission I share a small piece of what he wrote:

"It is spring, so there are huge plants or shrubs that are blooming bright blue flowers. I saw a tree that was solid blue. There are also red and pink blooms on trees and bushes. It is very beautiful."

Sometimes as we talk about Mexico it seems we get caught up on the bad parts, but it's good to remember the beauty of Mexico's culture, environment, and people.
